1. Start a Simple Profitable Blog

Blogging is my favorite side hustle for a few important reasons:

  • It can be done part-time or full-time, depending on your goals.
  • You’ll build a valuable asset that you can sell in the future.
  • The income potential is virtually unlimited.
  • You can start a blog about any topic that interests you (as long as other people are interested in it too).

How do blogs make money?

Blogging is a labor, a profitable one. The good news is that there are several ways to make money from that labor, including:

  • Advertising – Advertising networks such as Google AdSense will pay to show ads to your visitors. You get paid a commission for the clicks you earn.
  • Affiliate Marketing – You can get paid to promote products to your audience by joining an affiliate program such as Amazon Associates. You earn a commission from sales generated by your blog.
  • Lead/Demand Generation – You can always use your blog to promote your own business whether you provide a service, run an eCommerce store, sell digital products such as online courses, or run a subscription/ content model for exclusive content.

But keep in mind that none of these will be effective if you don’t first produce worthwhile content that draws viewers. Making your blog a billboard in the middle of a desert is the last thing you need.

Having said that, some well-known niches benefit greatly from blog monetization when done correctly.

The drawback of blogging is that you must put in a lot of time and work before you start seeing results. If you start a blog today, you might not earn money immediately, but persistence will pay off. It’s a good choice if you want to create a long-term company with high earning potential, but it’s not a good choice if you need to start making money right away.

Once you’ve created some quality content for your blog, you can apply for Adsense to start getting paid by Google when readers of your blog click on the company’s display ads.

To get started

  1. Pick your blog name and niche
  2. Get your blog online (web hosting)
  3. Design your blog with a free WordPress theme
  4. Write your first blog post
  5. Promote your blog and get readers (promoting your website will bring more viewers and make it easier for you to get Google AdSense approval.
  6. Make money from your blog

2. Build a Profitable Niche Website

Niche websites are similar to blogs, but there are a few differences. While blogs are often personal and blog readers tend to feel a connection to the writer behind the blog, niche websites are typically not personal. Readers usually don’t care or even know who is writing the article.

The content of a niche website will be highly focused on a particular topic, and the goal is to cover that topic as thoroughly as possible. Many niche websites generate revenue through affiliate marketing (as well as ad revenue), so they tend to publish content that mentions or features products they can promote as an affiliate. A recent niche site of mine generated over $5,000 each month, and I anticipate that it will keep expanding in the years to come. With specialized websites, there is still a lot of room for growth, and I’ll show you how.

Niche websites typically get most of their traffic from search engines, so most (if not all) of the articles published at these sites will target a specific keyword or phrase people are searching for.

Building niche websites come with the same benefits as side hustling with a blog. It’s an excellent option for anyone who wants to build an online business and is willing to put in some work upfront.

Consider this a table of contents for how to build a niche website from scratch:

  1. Brainstorm general market and broad niche ideas
  2. Begin in-depth keyword research
  3. Determine what problem your site is solving.  How will your site stand out?
  4. Pick a good domain name.
  5. Host your website.  Pick a Theme and get a logo.
  6. Develop a long-term content strategy.
  7. Pick a monetization strategy.
  8. Link Building.
  9. Social Media and Other Marketing Strategies
  10. Maximize earnings through list building.
  11. Consider long-term strategies proven to help grow websites.

3. Become A Transcriber

This side business is ideal for you if you have strong listening and typing skills. By leveraging your talents to provide individuals with transcription services, you may earn some additional money! There is always a need for someone to type up various things. If your typing abilities are adequate to the challenge, you may get employment online for everything from podcast transcription to video captioning!

You can make extra money as a transcriptionist with an internet connection and some typing skills. You’ll benefit from flexible hours, and you can make real money for your work. There is enough work to go around, regardless of your level of expertise, since people want things done promptly and professionally so they don’t have to wait long between remarks from various customers.

This is one of my favorite side hustles because of its incredible flexibility. You can work as few or as many hours as you want and work whenever you want. It can be a part-time gig that you do a few hours per week, or it can be a full-time career (there are a lot of transcription jobs out there). If you have a day job or other commitments, you can easily do the transcription work however it fits into your schedule.

Tips and tricks to help you when becoming a transcriber

  1. Practice makes perfect. A good benchmark is to be able to type 65 to 80 words a minute. That way you can get better gigs.
  2. Find a place to work where it’s peaceful and less distracting as you will need to focus when working.
  3. Get a pair of good headphones to help you hear better so your transcriptions are more accurate.
  4. Try and deliver your work as punctually as possible. That way you’re setting yourself up for more gigs in the future.

4. Work as a Virtual Assistant

I am going to be a bit more elaborate about this topic. First, virtual assistant jobs are a fairly well-known and highly coveted type of remote work. If you’ve been wondering how to become a virtual assistant, or where to find virtual assistant jobs, read on! Every virtual assistant job is a little bit different, of course, but there are some general components to expect. Most virtual assistants provide support to their employer or clients in the form of answering emails, transcribing documents, preparing statements and letters, organizing files, coordinating schedules and calendars, making travel arrangements, and generally taking charge of administrative tasks to help a client focus on the other aspects of their jobs (or personal lives).

The good news for anyone hoping to work remotely as a virtual assistant is that virtual administration is one of the fastest-growing remote career fields, according to FlexJobs data.

What Does a Virtual Assistant Do?

Virtual assistants can work as executive assistants, administrative assistants, personal assistants, and in other related positions, depending on the client. A typical virtual assistant job description may include any combination of the following:

  • Calendar and schedule management
  • Travel arrangements
  • File and document organization
  • Email monitoring and organizing
  • Answering and directing calls
  • Billing and accounting activities
  • Writing and maintaining records
  • Vetting potential clients, projects, partnerships, etc.
  • Maintaining or updating a client’s social media or professional profile

Because so many virtual assistant duties are done through a computer, excellent typing skills and being highly comfortable using different computer programs are a must.

How Do You Become a Virtual Assistant?

If you have no direct experience or are looking for virtual assistant jobs for beginners, here are some ways to get started. Have you booked appointments, made travel arrangements, managed someone’s calendar or email, blogged, or promoted something on social media? All of these are common virtual assistant tasks. Even if you believe you have no experience, you may have transferable skills that can set your resume apart.

You may already have the right skills to become a virtual assistant without realizing how valuable they are. To give them the proper context, these skills should be detailed in your virtual assistant cover letter. If you need to brush up on some areas, virtual assistant training and certifications can be obtained through self-study or taking online virtual assistant courses to learn best practices.

As a virtual assistant, you can work directly for employers, for a virtual assistant agency that provides services to other companies, or offer your own services on a contract basis. If you wish to go into business on your own, determine ahead of time which virtual assistant services you’ll offer, perfect your resume, and start networking.

If you offer social media, web design, content production, or creative services, consider maintaining an online portfolio with examples of your work. After becoming a virtual assistant and working for your first clients, be sure to collect positive testimonials that can impress new clients.

How to find virtual assistant jobs & companies that hire virtual assistants

According to the FlexJobs database, the companies below frequently hire for virtual assistant positions:

Many other companies commonly hire virtual assistants, too. When it comes to virtual assistant job titles, be on the lookout for titles like virtual administrative assistant, administrative coordinator, virtual secretary, personal assistant, executive assistant, and similar titles.

What makes a good virtual assistant?

Great job candidates possess virtual assistant skills like phenomenal written and verbal communication and open and transparent communication practices where they are viewed as reliable, reachable partners by their clients. Time management and organizational skills are a must, as is a natural ability to take charge of a situation and organize it for the benefit of a client.

Also, experience with or knowledge of cloud-based communication technologies like file sharing, password managers, and phone and video conferencing is important.

Finally, people who hire virtual assistants are looking to lessen the stress and disorganization in their lives. Don’t wait to be asked to do specific tasks—if you see a client struggling, offer to help them with something you aren’t currently doing. This gives you more work to do and lets them rely even more heavily on you.

Virtual assistant salary: How much do virtual assistants make?

PayScale shows a wide range of pay for virtual assistants, depending on their skill level, years of experience, industry, and clientele. The range is $21,000 to $56,000 per year, with the median annual rate at $36,272. Hourly virtual assistant pay ranges from $10.16 to $29.49, with a median hourly rate of about $16.

The work environment for virtual assistants

Just like any other remote job, you’ll need to have a dedicated home office to work as a virtual assistant. In addition to a computer with a high-speed Internet connection, you’ll also need a printer, copier/scanner, and fax. Most likely, you will need a dedicated landline (or two) as well.

Finding virtual assistant jobs from home with remote job websites

Virtual assistant jobs come in all shapes and sizes: full-time, part-time, employee, freelance, temporary, and alternative schedules. Many virtual assistants work with more than one client at a time on a freelance basis, combining several part-time projects to create a full-time business for themselves.

5. Start a Simple Profitable YouTube Channel

Popular YouTube channels bring in a LOT of money. You can earn revenue from ad clicks, sell sponsorships that will be promoted in your videos, and create videos to promote products as an affiliate.

Starting a YouTube channel is similar to starting a blog, except you’ll be creating video content instead of written content.

Now, this is not an easy side hustle to start and make money within a short period unless you have a good fan base. But if you want to grow it as a source of income in the long term, you won’t regret it.

12 steps to start a YouTube channel

  1. Create a YouTube Channel
  2. Design your Channel Art
  3. Fill out your profile
  4. Plan your content
  5. Create a channel trailer
  6. Upload your first YouTube video
  7. Optimize your videos for search
  8. Upload new videos consistently
  9. Promote your YouTube channel
  10. Engage with your community
  11. Run YouTube ads
  12. Analyze your results

6. Freelance Writing

A freelance writer is someone who gets paid to perform writing work. It’s that simple. Where people get confused is that freelance writing is a blanket term that covers a ton of different types of writing. As a beginner, you’re going to see all sorts of examples of freelance writing, including:

  • Blogging
  • Copywriting
  • Email writing
  • B2B writing

And that’s just the start.

If you need to start making money immediately, freelance writing is a better option than building your own blog. Instead of building your blog, you can get paid to write for existing blogs that need help producing content, and plenty is out there. Being a freelance writer is a great option because you can make very good money if you’re able to land the right clients, and you’ll have a lot of flexibility in your working hours.

The cool thing about freelance writing is there are so many possibilities for you to get started. That’s not only because there are so many different styles of writing, but there are so many niches to write in too.

I’ve done a decent amount of freelance writing over the years, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys writing. Some of my gigs have paid more than $100 per hour worked (although I usually charged per word or article, not by the hour).

Writing is a thing of interest. If you don’t have an interest in writing and you are trying to force it because of the pay or flexibility, you might end up feeling frustrated.

Learn to write for the web

If freelance writing interests you, then I assume you’re (probably) already a good writer. That is, you know how to put words together into something that makes sense and is reasonably interesting to read.

While this is a good start, freelance writing is different from the kind of writing you learn in school. You won’t be writing academic essays meant to impress your professor, nor will you have to worry about formatting your bibliography correctly.

Instead, you’ll need to learn how to write for the web. This means unlearning many of the habits you picked up in school.

How to write for the web (and how it differs from academic writing) is a huge topic that I don’t have space to cover here in detail.

In general, however, these are some things to keep in mind when writing online articles:

  •  Write short sentences and paragraphs – This makes your writing easier to read.
  •  Use subheadings – If you skim this article, you’ll see that it uses many subheadings to break up the text and help the reader find the information they need.
  •  Don’t try to be clever – You’re not trying to impress your professor with obscure words or complex metaphors. You’re trying to write things that the average person can understand.
  •  Use links – The internet is built out of links, so try to link to both relevant external sources (other websites) and relevant articles/pages on the site you’re writing for.
  •  Get to the point – If you can say it in one word instead of ten, do that. People are busy and don’t have time for you to ramble.
  •  Cite your sources – Freelance writing often requires you to research an unfamiliar topic. Always cite any sources that you use. This boosts your credibility and prevents plagiarism.

7. Sell Printables for Profit

A printable is a piece of digital content (usually in PDF form) that is designed to be printed out and used in a variety of different ways. People can use printables for everything from educational resources to decor and organization tools. There are endless possibilities for selling printables. There are all different types of printables you can sell,  and below are some popular printables you can create and sell:

  • Educational resources (worksheets, activity sheets, etc.)
  • Decor (wall art, banners, labels, etc.
  • Organization (planners, calendars, to-do lists, etc.)
  • Gifts (cards, gift tags, coupons, etc.)
  • Templates and more.

Printables are a hot commodity these days. Everyone is looking for a way to save time and money, and printables offer both. You can design the printables yourself or outsource the work to a freelance designer. You could set up a shop on Etsy or sell from your own website (or both).  If you are selling printables, you need to make sure you are offering a product that is in demand and that people are willing to pay for.

There are a lot of free printables out there, so you need to make sure your products are high quality and offer value to customers. It may take some time to build up your shop, but once you have several products for sale, you may be able to generate a significant amount of passive income. While I can not give you a definite answer on how much you will make from selling printables, some factors will determine your success in this field.

The income potential from selling printables will vary depending on several factors, such as:

  • The quality of your designs.
  • The price you charge.
  • The demand for your products.

If you can produce high-quality printables and price them competitively, you could potentially make a significant income from selling them. Realistically, beginners who put in the work can make a reasonable amount per month. You can scale this and see more earning potential by improving your skills and staying consistent.

What printables sell the best?

There are a lot of different kinds of printables that sell well. Some of the most popular include:

  • Planners and organization printables. Educational resources, such as flashcards and worksheets.
  • Decorations and party printables.
  • Business and marketing materials, such as business cards and flyers.
  • Personalized gifts, such as nameplates and monogrammed stationery.
  • Fun and unusual items, such as coloring pages.
  • Seasonal items, such as holiday cards and decorations.
  • Helpful resources, such as checklists and reference sheets.
  • Creative projects, such as printable art and crafts.

If you’re crafty and have an eye for design, you can money selling printables online! While the most popular printables are wall art, planners, and stationeries, you can sell any type of printable you can think of. My ultimate advice is to Find A Niche.

First, you’ll need to choose what kind of printables you want to make. Start by brainstorming a list of ideas.

  • What sort of designs do you like?
  • What would be popular with your target customers?
  • What are people buying?

For inspiration, you can take a peek at what other creators are making. Pinterest and Google Images are good places to explore ideas for printables. There are endless possibilities for the kind of printables you can make and sell, but it’s important to choose from the many so you do not get overwhelmed. You can make further research on this side hustle if you are interested in it and have the skills.

8. Create Print-on-Demand Designs

print-on-demand business is where you work with a supplier of white-label products (like baseball hats or tote bags) to customize those products and sell them on a per-order basis under your own brand and with your own designs.

With print-on-demand, you don’t pay for the cost of the product until after you’ve actually sold it, so there’s no need to buy in bulk or hold any inventory yourself. As such, it continues to become a popular business model in the world of eCommerce.

Plus with print-on-demand services, everything after the sale, from digital printing to order fulfillment and shipping, is handled by your supplier. A major additional benefit of print-on-demand is. that once you’ve set everything up, it takes only a few clicks to fulfill an order after you’ve made a sale.

Whether you’re an artist, writer, designer, or entrepreneur, physical products can be the perfect canvas for monetizing your creativity. From t-shirts to posters, backpacks to books, you can put your own original spin on everyday products and sell them online. However, if you go the traditional route of buying and holding your own inventory, you may be left with a pile of products that aren’t selling.

The print-on-demand (POD) industry has grown by 12% over the past several years. Furthermore, The global print-on-demand market size was estimated at USD 4.91 billion in 2021 and is expected to reach USD 6.17 billion in 2022.

Print-on-demand services offer an easier way to bypass the time, investment, and risk associated with managing inventory, helping you create custom products at a fraction of the cost of manufacturing them on your own.

If you like to design, you can create your own designs to sell as print-on-demand t-shirts and other products. Even if you’re not a designer, this is still a potential side hustle idea if it appeals to you. There are stock graphics and resources you can buy that will do a lot of the design work for you (just be sure to check licensing details). Another option is to hire a freelancer to do the design work.

Of course, you could set up your own e-commerce site with Shopify or another platform. But some websites allow you to create your own designs and sell shirts without stocking any inventory. Merch by Amazon and Redbubble are among the most popular, but there are plenty of others.

One of the nice things about this side hustle is that it has the potential to provide passive income once you’re established. For many people, that’s the sign of a perfect side hustle. However, Print-on-demand is not a side hustle for the faint-hearted because it involves a lot and the competition is quite high. I won’t advise you to try it out if you’re not prepared to take everything that comes with it before it finally kicks off and become profitable.

9. Proofreading

Do you have a knack for spotting errors in text? Do you have a great command of the English language? If so, then you’re an excellent candidate for proofreading. Proofreading is a flexible, low-stress side hustle that you can balance with your full-time job.

A lot of my students want to start proofreading because they love to read and have a sharp eye for detail. I think those are excellent reasons. Proofreading takes something you’re passionate about and allows you to make money from it without having to invest years of education and training. Also, how many of you are already proofreading for free for friends and family? Why not make money off it, right?

Proofreading makes a great side hustle:

  • It’s a lifelong skill that can be applied to any industry
  • It doesn’t require an English degree or special certification
  • Can be done from anywhere offline
  • You set your own hours
  • It doesn’t require a lot of equipment or tools

Proofreading is an excellent opportunity if you’re looking for flexible work with the potential to make good money. You’ll need to be good with grammar and have attention to detail. There’s a lot of work available, so it’s a perfect option if you have grammar skills.

10. Take Online Surveys

Paid surveys online can be a great way to start making some side hustle money. If you have the time and dedication, this is something that people are doing through apps or websites while getting paid for it. There are also more interactive surveys such as face-to-face and video conferences through Zoom/Teams which pay even more, so it’s always worth keeping an eye out for those.

Data is more important than ever before for businesses, so they are always looking to get their hands on it.

They use this data to target products and ads that will reach only those people most interested, which means you could be making some extra money by providing valuable insight into all sorts of things like demographics or desires without even realizing it.

With everything going digital nowadays there’s never been an easier time doing it – so don’t let this opportunity slip away from your grasp!

Online surveys are a favorite for many people for several reasons. You don’t need any special experience to start a side hustle with surveys. Anyone can do it. You can take the surveys in your spare time, and you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home. It’s one of the best side hustle ideas to make extra money simply.

Now, it’s important to set realistic expectations here. Your income potential is limited with online surveys. If you’re looking for a side hustle that can generate thousands of dollars per month or give you the potential to turn it into a full-time business, this isn’t the right fit. But if you’re looking to make an extra $100 – $300 per month with minimal disruption to your life, taking surveys could be a good option. However, you need to make significant research to find out the best-paying surveys so that you don’t waste your time in the end.

11. Sell Private-Label Products on Amazon

Private label products are manufactured by a third-party manufacturer or company and then sold to another company to brand, market, and sell under their own brand name or label.  The manufacturer has no rights over the label or brand, and you get to decide on the product design, your brand logo, labeling, packaging, and all other creative elements.

Private label products could be a generic Alibaba product with their brand label added, a product with custom additions or changes, or a unique product sold exclusively by that brand.  Although it can take time and work to build your brand recognition, selling private label products on Amazon allows your business to grow long-term.

Advantages of selling Amazon private label products

Private label products have many benefits on Amazon, including:

  • Increase in Credibility. By selling products under a private label, you can capitalize on in-demand products while contributing to your own brand’s credibility.
  • Higher Profit Margins. White-label products are generally less expensive, allowing you to achieve higher margins.
  • More Exposure. Amazon values private-label products and will give more exposure to private-label sellers on the platform.
  • Option for Customization. You can stand out by customizing your products depending on customers’ needs and demands.

Amazon is a giant among online retailers, and you can leverage Amazon’s massive audience to sell your own products. One of the best ways is to start your own private-label brand. You’ll find a manufacturer to create a product with your own label or branding, send it to Amazon’s warehouses, and when customers place orders, Amazon will fulfill the orders and send the product to customers.

All of the product manufacturing and order fulfillment is handled by someone else, so it’s possible to run this business on limited hours and still make a great income.

Investing in a private label brand takes time and research, from conceptualization to hands-on execution. Ensure you’re up for the challenge and learn the steps you need to get started. One of the downsides of this side hustle idea is that it usually requires an upfront investment for inventory, and there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to sell that inventory. There are some ways around the upfront investment, but they significantly limit your income potential. Some people have invested about $10,000 to get started, but it’s possible to start with much less.

12. Start Your Own E-Commerce Website

Aside from selling on Amazon or other marketplaces, setting up your own e-commerce website is another option. An eCommerce business is a business model where the buying and selling of goods or services are done over the internet. Ecommerce businesses will digitally transfer money and data to execute these online transactions. With retail e-commerce sales worldwide reaching nearly $5 trillion in 2021, it’s never been a better time to start an online business.

If you’re a skilled entrepreneur or craftsperson, you’ve probably dreamed of starting your own eCommerce store and building a business that gives you a sense of achievement and freedom then here is your chance.

Shopify makes all the technical aspects of it very easy and affordable. You can find products to wholesale at sites like Alibaba and AliExpress, or create and sell your own custom products.

The upside is you’ll have much more flexibility and control compared to selling on Amazon or some other marketplace. The downside is you’ll need to build your own audience, so it can take some time to see results (unless you’ve got a nice budget for advertising).

13. Dropshipping

If you’ve thought about starting your own eCommerce store, you may be wondering how you’ll get access to an inventory of products, or where you’ll store them.

Under the traditional business model, retailers are responsible for the order fulfillment process from start to finish. That often means leasing warehouse space for products, handling supply chain and inventory management, and managing shipping costs.

However, there’s an alternative business model for fulfilling customer orders placed through an online store: dropshipping.

Dropshipping is an order fulfillment method where a business doesn’t keep the products it sells in stock. Instead, the seller purchases inventory as needed from a third party—usually a wholesaler or manufacturer—to fulfill orders.

The biggest difference between dropshipping and the standard retail model is that the selling merchant doesn’t stock or own inventory—they act as the middleman.

A dropshipper is a person or business that uses the dropshipping model of buying inventory and fulfillment logistics from a third party, instead of warehousing and shipping the products themselves. And because dropshipping relies on a third-party supplier to handle inventory warehousing and order fulfillment, a dropshipping operation may be managed by dozens of employees or a single business owner.

As a dropshipper, you can sell products online without carrying any inventory. You’ll fill your e-commerce website with products. When a customer places an order, it will go to the wholesaler or manufacturer, and they will ship it to the customer. It’s a nice hands-free option, and you don’t need a large upfront investment to start a dropshipping business. Thanks to Shopify’s dropshipping capabilities, you can easily create a dropshipping business.

How does dropshipping work?

The dropshipping process is essentially a relationship between a customer-facing store and a supplier.

There are two common approaches to adopting a dropshipping business model. The first is to seek out one or more wholesale suppliers located in North America (or anywhere else in the world) on your own using a supplier database. Examples of popular online supplier databases include AliExpress, SaleHoo, and Worldwide Brands.

If you’re not interested in finding suppliers for all of the products you plan to sell, you can use an app that connects you and your store to thousands of suppliers. For this, we recommend DSers, a Shopify app that helps independent business owners find products to sell.

With DSers, you can browse AliExpress and import the products that pique your interest directly to DSers—which is connected to your Shopify store—with the click of a button. Once a customer buys a product, you’ll be able to fulfill their order in the DSers app.

Fortunately, DSers automates most of the dropshipping process. As the store owner, all you have to do is check that the details are correct and click the order button. The product is then shipped directly from the AliExpress supplier to the customer—wherever in the world they may be.

14. Sell Crafts on Etsy

Are you good with arts and crafts? If so, you could create and sell handmade items on Etsy and other sites like Etsy. Etsy is a global e-commerce platform, a collection of shops started and stocked by creative entrepreneurs.  Since it was founded in 2005, it has grown to number 85 million buyers and 7.7 million sellers. The website is an excellent place to sell your crafts for a profit. You can work a flexible schedule and make whatever you want to sell, so it’s a great side hustle for the right person.

Etsy crafters sell thousands of unique items, from jewelry to art to stickers. But how do you get started to ensure success? It takes market research to determine what to sell and how to price your merchandise, a marketing plan, good photos of your inventory, and some perseverance. But with a reach of 85 million buyers, the time and effort can be worthwhile, whether you want to build a full-time business or make money from your hobby.

Getting started is fairly easy. You’ll need a product or idea to promote. Once you’re ready, you’ll need to create an Etsy account. Among the items, you’ll need to set are your shop’s location and the currency you’ll accept.

The good news for beginners is that there are minimal fees to get started on Etsy and no store overhead such as rent and utilities. This makes it less risky to try out a new idea and see if there’s a market for your products since most of Etsy’s fees only apply to items you sell. Plus, you benefit from Etsy’s substantial standing, driving millions of potential customers to the website.

However, selling crafts on Etsy might not be the best idea for people living in Nigeria due to the cost of shipping. You can simply connect with a talented craft person to sell off their stuff on Etsy stores and collect your profit.

15. Become an Influencer

As the popularity of social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok has continued to grow, the opportunities to earn money on those platforms have increased and become more significant. Many brands are looking to reach users through influencer marketing, and if you have a large and active following, you can make a lot of money by partnering with brands to provide them with exposure to your audience.

And really, you don’t need a huge audience to make money as an influencer. Even micro-influencers with smaller followings can earn extra cash if their social media followers are engaged.

This could be a good opportunity if you’re an avid social media user.

16. Flip Domains

If you’ve ever tried to buy a domain name, you know it’s not easy to find a good one. It seems like all the good .com domain names are already taken. As a result, strong domain names have a lot of value.

The high-level strategy behind domain flipping is simple. A domain name is a unique string of characters used to conveniently direct people to a website; to use one, you need to register it, so you can have exclusive access to it. If the domain name is available, you can buy it outright. If the domain name is currently held, you’ll need to make an offer to purchase it from the current holder. In some cases, this involves finding domains that have just expired and buying them before someone else does.

Domain flipping is the practice of buying a domain name as cheaply as possible. Then, without doing anything with the domain, you’ll sell the domain to an interested party for more than you originally paid. Some people make very good money by buying and reselling domain names.

Why would you do this? For the most part, the motivation is profit. Domains are incredibly valuable pieces of online real estate; in fact, the most expensive domain name ever sold, Cars.com, sold for $872 million.

If you’re in the right place at the right time and choose a domain name with massive potential, you could turn a significant profit when you flip the domain.

If you flip domains regularly, there’s a chance you could even turn it into a full-time career. While it’s not easy, domain flipping offers significant income potential. If you are into domains and Webhosting, this might be a good source for passive income in dollars.

17. Flip Websites

If flipping domain names doesn’t interest you, how about flipping full websites? Marketplaces like Flippa and Empire Flippers allow you to find websites for sale (tip: a lot of times, you can get the best deals by finding sellers directly and cutting out the middleman).

Flipping a website is not unlike flipping real estate. You buy a piece of underperforming piece of digital property, improve its value, and resell it at a profit. If you find a site you can improve, you may be able to make a nice profit from it after you’ve made the improvements and increased its profitability.

The simple business model is one of the most attractive things about website flipping. The business model is so simple that you have a decent shot at creating a successful business with little or no entrepreneurship experience. The business has low barriers to entry and requires minimal investment. Also, the website flipping business has a low capital investment. You only need a couple of dollars to get started if you’re building websites from scratch. You can also snatch existing websites with good profit potential for a few hundred dollars.

Considering that there are virtually no overheads, this business has some of the lowest barriers to entry from a capital investment perspective. I’d recommend having some experience with building and managing websites or blogs before you buy a site.

18. Create an Online Course

Online learning and training have become an essential part of every online business. By teaching your course topic, you prove to your target audience, leaving no shadow of a doubt, that you are a high-quality expert in your field.

Today, there are online courses available for just about anything you can imagine. I’ve taken countless courses myself, and I’m sure I’ll continue to purchase many other courses in the future. Creating and selling a course in your area of expertise is a great way to make money online. Courses have a much higher perceived value than an e-book, so it’s possible to sell them for high prices. Many courses sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

If you want to create your own course, there are a few ways you could do it. Teachable is an extremely popular platform that makes creating and selling your own course easy. The nice thing about using Teachable is that you won’t have to deal with many technical aspects that can be challenging when setting up your course. And if you need help, you can hire a virtual assistant that specializes in course launches.

19. Write and Sell Books or E-books on Amazon

This is a great side hustle for those who like to write. Take advantage of Amazon’s massive reach to quickly get your book or e-book in front of thousands of people. You can make sales by promoting your book to your own audience (if you have an audience), or you can reach buyers directly on Amazon.

Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) makes it easy to become a self-published author. You can sell paperback books through print-on-demand, and Amazon will print them as customers purchase them, so you don’t need to invest money for expensive print runs and store inventory.

You won’t make much money with each sale, but the goal is to move to a high volume. Most writers that make a lot of money selling books and e-books on Amazon have several different books. To maximize your results, you’ll need to continually write new books (or outsource the writing to others).

This is a flexible side hustle idea that can be done around your existing schedule. You could use it to make a little extra income or turn it into full-time work.

20. Become a “Micro” Tasker

The opportunities in this category vary, but microtask websites allow you to earn money by completing different types of simple tasks. It’s one of the simplest side hustle ideas.

Amazon Mechanical Turk allows you to earn extra cash with short, simple tasks that typically take a few minutes each. Tasks include things like watching videos, categorization and completing surveys.

Clickworker offers opportunities like data entry, copywriting, editing, proofreading, and research.

Some survey sites also pay for other types of micro tasks aside from just surveys. This includes SwagbucksInbox Dollars, and MyPoints.

With these micro-tasks, you can make money without spending too much time. The best part? They’re easy and quick! You won’t be able to take down the big bucks with them but they will add up over time because there’s plenty from which to choose – plus do it all in your own home (or wherever).

Work when you want, wherever you are. All that is needed for this job-related paradise? A computer and an internet connection! Types of micro-tasks include:

  1. Content Moderation: Decide whether specific types of content violate the rules and regulations of a website.
  2. Proofreading: Checking text for any errors (spelling/grammar etc)
  3. Online Research: Find important and relevant data for companies/businesses.
  4. Data Sorting: Take data and sort them into categories.
  5. Transcribing Audio and Text Creation: type up audio and create a description for products.
  6. Photo/Audio and Video services: Take photos or record audio and videos and get paid for them.

Micro-tasking earning potential

Micro-tasks are a great way to generate some extra cash on the side. You can do them in your free time and they don’t take too long, which means you’ll make money while doing something fun! This means that you earn a good return for the amount of work put into it, but don’t expect these to replace your full-time job.

21. Publish on Medium

Many freelance writers write for Medium when they’re not busy with client work. It provides a way to earn extra money between client projects while building up name recognition and increasing exposure.

22. Become a Resume Writer

Resumes and CVs have become integral parts of the hiring process, and with so many resumes being submitted to recruiters and companies, one’s resume needs to have the right content and formatting to help land that perfect job opportunity. This is where the side hustle comes in, helping people get jobs by creating interesting resumes people want to read!

There are a lot of job searchers who are willing to pay someone to write a professional resume for them. If you have experience with resumes or HR, this could be a great fit for you. You can find your own clients by side hustling as a freelancer. Start by working your personal and professional network to offer your services to people who may be looking for a job. This means that you can capitalize on your resume writing skills by getting an edge in the competition while also making some good money!

You don’t even have to do much work; an average profile only contains 300 words. You will still require some research though different roles and job positions will require different wordings, luckily there are plenty of resources online which will help you become a skillful resume and CV writer!

23. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a process where publishers earn a commission by promoting a product or service made by another retailer or advertiser using an affiliate link. The affiliate partner has rewarded a payout for providing a specific result to the retailer or advertiser. Typically, the result is a sale. But some affiliate marketing programs can reward you for leads, the free-trial user clicks to a website, or getting downloads for an app.

With affiliate marketing, you don’t need to create your own products or services. Many blogs and websites generate revenue through affiliate programs, but having your own website isn’t necessary. Some top affiliates use paid traffic, like Facebook ads or YouTube ads, to send traffic to their affiliate offers.

Most affiliate programs are usually free to join, so you don’t have to worry about high startup costs. Done right, an effective affiliate marketing strategy can go from a side hustle to a profitable online business idea by netting you a healthy income. Commission rates for affiliate sales vary depending on the company and the offer. On the low end, you’ll earn about 5% of the sale, but with some arrangements, you can earn as much as 50%, usually when promoting a class or event. There are also affiliate marketing programs that provide a flat rate per sale instead of a percentage.

How do affiliate marketers make money?

Affiliate marketing income spans a large spectrum. Some affiliate marketers will make a few hundred bucks per month and others that make six figures a year. The larger your following, the more money you can make as an affiliate marketer.

Compensation software company Payscale reports that the average annual salary of an affiliate marketer is over $53,000, based on over 7,000 salary profiles, with many affiliate marketers earning significantly more.

There are also affiliate marketers like blogger Ryan Robinson, who makes over $17,000 per month through affiliate income alone.

But how do affiliates actually get paid? When you choose an affiliate program to promote, you’ll notice there are different payment models. Companies also call it a price model, payout model, conversion type, or another variation.

Regardless of the name, the payment model tells you what goals you will get paid for. If you’re promoting a software product, the action could be a free trial signup. For an affiliate marketer who promotes physical products, the goal will likely be a purchase.

Many programs run with last-click attribution, which means the affiliate who receives the last click before a purchase gets 100% credit. However, this is changing, as programs improve attribution models and reporting. For example, you could share equal credit for a sale if there were multiple affiliates in a buyer’s conversion funnel.

Five common ways affiliates get paid include:

  • Pay per sale, where you earn a commission for each sale you make. It’s a common payout model for eCommerce offers.
  • Pay per action, which earns you a commission for a specific action. Many affiliate programs use this payout model because it’s broad and can be applied to different offers: newsletter signup, a click, a contact request, a form submission, etc.
  • Pay per install, where you are paid for every install generated from your website traffic. The goal of your content would be to promote mobile apps and software so that people download or install them.
  • Pay per lead, which pays you every time someone signs up for something. It’s a popular payout method because companies use it for sweepstakes, lead generation, and other types of offers. Cost-per-lead offers are common for beginners because it’s easier to generate leads than to sell products to an audience.
  • Pay per click, a rare payout system where you earn commission on every click on your affiliate link. Pay-per-click programs are used by big merchants to build brand awareness. Customers don’t need to sign up or buy anything, just to visit the merchant’s website.

How much you make depends on your affiliate niche. For example, our research* found that the highest average commission rate ($70.99) was for business-related programs. While books and media and clothing categories earned just over $6 per commission. The maximum average commission we found was around $289.06 per sale.

One of the nice things about affiliate marketing is that you can find opportunities in any industry and for just about any type of product. The possibilities are virtually endless.

24. Start a Facebook Group

There are Facebook Groups focused on just about any topic you can imagine, and the active groups have plenty of income potential. Of course, some Facebook Groups are managed by websites and blogs to connect with their audience, but you can certainly run your own group without the need to have a website or blog.

The hardest part of building a successful group will be getting it off the ground. You’ll need to get some active members into the group quickly and ensure that discussions occur daily. When visitors come across your group and see it’s active, they’ll be more likely to join.

Facebook Groups are a powerful marketing tool, helping you attract new customers and engage current ones with exclusive content, community, and support. Once your group is established, you can monetize it with affiliate marketing or market products you developed based on the preferences of your group members or audience. Highly engaged groups are generally very responsive to affiliate offers that are relevant to them.

Sometimes secrecy is the best way to market your business. I’m talking about Facebook Groups, a.k.a. the VIP way to gain valuable insights from and engage with your top customers. Create a Facebook Business Page to make yourself look more professional and keep your personal profile separate. If you want to take it up a notch, then set up an Instagram account too!

Companies pay testers to give feedback on websites and apps, and you don’t need any special skills or experience. You’ll typically need a computer, internet connection, microphone, and camera. A simple laptop with a built-in webcam and mic will do.

Most tasks involve recording yourself using a website or app and sharing your feedback through audio/video. The biggest challenge to starting a side hustle with website testing is that the opportunities are limited. More people are interested in doing the testing than gigs available, so your income will be limited by the number of opportunities.

The primary qualifications for a website tester position include familiarity with content inventory, experience testing, and Java. Most companies do not have education requirements for website testers, but a degree in computer science can help you get a permanent position.

Website testing companies offer a platform to perform usability testing on websites and mobile applications. These platforms offer remote moderated as well as unmoderated usability testing services. Userpeek pays testers to visit a website or app, complete a set of tasks, and speak their thoughts out loud. Testers get paid for every 15 to 20 minutes of the test they complete. It’s possible to work from home with a flexible schedule by rendering data entry services. Data entry is one of the more flexible job options, making it great for freelancers. 29. Marketing Focus and Research

Marketing focus and research groups are used by businesses to find out how their target market behaves. They use these findings for future marketing strategies, as well as understanding what people want so they can provide it when necessary.

This gig is the online equivalent of being stopped in the street and asking for one’s opinion on some latest trend or giving feedback for a company’s ad that you have seen on TV. When companies see data from these surveys, they can learn more details such as age group and preferred usage patterns, which in turn helps them better understand how consumers use products and services.

Do you have an eye for detail? If so, then the paid research opportunities on these sites are right up your alley. Although it may not sound like much at first – trust me; these little tasks can really add up over time! Use our tips for the best results, as well as some pros and cons for this side hustle.

Companies and individuals can also hire people and pay them to do some research for them. These are usually simple tasks requiring basic internet and search skills, but some assignments will be more involved. Here are a few of the best websites to check out:

Tips and tricks to help you maximize earnings and improve productivity

    1. Always keep your profile updated. An updated profile will give you a better chance of getting research offers and potential signing-up bonuses.

30. Get Paid to Give Expert Answers

If you are an expert in your field then answering questions can be an easy way to make money online. On sites like JustAnswer and PrestoExperts users submit questions and experts get paid to answer them.

When a user posts a question they want to be answered, they also assign a fee to get it answered by a professional, and when an expert (like you) answers the question he or she gets paid a percentage of that fee.

Tips and tricks to help you get paid to be an expert

  1. Be as detailed and accurate as you can be with your expert answers to get the most chance of getting it approved (and paid).
  2. Invest time in building up your profile with expert answers, this way you increase your chances of being selected again.
  3. Don’t pretend to be an expert and don’t fake it, it’s just too worth the time and you will miss out on getting paid.

31. Work as a Search Engine Evaluator

Did you know you can get paid to evaluate search engine results? While search engines use algorithms, they also have real humans who evaluate search results, and that’s where you come in.

When you search for something—anything—in a search engine, you hope that the first result is the “right” result. Of course, that doesn’t always happen, so you have to refine your search to get a better outcome. At the dawn of search engines, sometimes you’d have to do this repeatedly until you got what you were looking for—and even then, you couldn’t always find what you wanted.

Search engine evaluators help make this happen.

What Is a Search Engine Evaluator? (Search Query Evaluator)

The title may read “internet assessor,” “search evaluator,” “ads quality rater,” “web search evaluator,” or “internet judge,” but the job is the same. As Google puts it, “Search evaluation is the process of measuring the quality of our search results and our users’ experience with search.” Why is this role important? What might seem like a good match to a computer program may not provide the user with comprehensive, relevant, or accurate information.

So, a search engine evaluator is an actual human who provides feedback and ratings about what comes up. This feedback helps designers improve the quality of results to ensure users are being directed to what they want.

What Does a Search Engine Evaluator Do?

Search engine evaluators critique and rate the search results that return when searching for a specific term. Depending on the assignment, you might rate how useful the top search results are, if the map is correct, or if the search results are what you were looking for.

However, the evaluation isn’t as simple as saying, “it was super helpful.” Your assessment is based on guidelines that outline exactly what you are looking for and how to rate each item. Some of these documents are hundreds of pages long, so it will take some time to learn the process. Once you master them, though, the job is fairly straightforward.

How to Become a Search Engine Evaluator: Required Skills and Experience

Becoming a search engine evaluator does not require an extensive set of specialized skills or experience. The main requirements are:

  • Owning a laptop or desktop, not a tablet. It’s also helpful if you have a smartphone for some tasks.
  • Reliable access to high-speed internet.
  • Ability to follow directions. The evaluation guidelines are explicit, and you’ll need to be able to follow them exactly.
  • Superior research skills.

Bilingual skills are also helpful, as not all evaluator jobs are in English. Because many positions are localized (meaning, evaluating the search results in a specific country), you need to be familiar with trends in your local area.

You should also be tech-savvy; this includes having excellent email skills and the ability to share documents. However, you also need to be a search engine guru! You won’t only use one kind of search engine—you’ll probably use all of them, and you need to understand how to conduct advanced searches for some projects.

Each company works a little bit differently, but in general, you will need to be internet savvy, and you may need to pass a test before qualifying for the work. This is a great, flexible side hustle you can do on your own schedule. Almost all these jobs are part-time, so it’s not something that will grow into a full-time income.

Lastly, you’ll need to prove your skillset through testing.

What is a Typical Search Engine Evaluator Salary?

According to Glassdoor, the average annual salary for a search engine evaluator is $35,471, or $17 an hour. These positions range from part-time to full-time and often make for a great side gig since they are frequently project-based.

Who Hires Search Engine Evaluators?

Search engine companies do not directly hire internet evaluators—they outsource the work to independent companies that hire for the positions. Some examples of companies that commonly hire for these jobs are:

To learn more about the job and the companies that hire, please see Search Engine, Evaluator Jobs.

People can pursue a freelance jobs in all kinds of industries including web development. One study found that the vast majority of web developers see an annual business growth of 25% or more. With this in mind, it is easy to see why this profession is one of the ten most in-demand tech jobs in 2021.

Freelance web developers are self-employed professional coders who create websites for several clients and get paid for each project.

Because they don’t work for an employer, they get to set their own price, choose which client to work with, and work on as many projects as they want. Many businesses and organizations are looking for web designers and coders.

What Skills Do You Need to be A Freelance Web Developer?

To be a successful freelance web developer, you need to have a balance of coding and business skills.

Coding skills – Web developers are expected to know how to code. You can start by learning HTML, CSS, and Javascript. There are free and paid online and offline courses or boot camps that you can take to learn how to code if you’re starting from scratch.

At the minimum, you can start freelancing with only HTML & CSS knowledge. You can also use a CMS like WordPress or Editor X if you’re not interested in coding too much. Many successful freelancers go this route and it’s perfectly fine.

Business skills – A common mistake of new freelance web developers is the failure to see this as a business. Building a business requires a specific set of skills including but not limited to marketing, building a brand, setting the right price, negotiating, networking, and much more.

Because it’s your business, you’re going to handle every aspect of it from looking for clients to managing your cash flow.

To help you with all this, Bonsai is a fantastic tool. They have everything you need to manage your projects, from proposals, contracts, and invoices to doing taxes, and more. Using Bonsai will definitely save you time and money.

The bottom line: To succeed as a freelance developer, focus on coding and business skills.

You don’t have to be a coding master, despite what you might think. Thanks to resources like the Divi WordPress theme and the Divi Builder plugin (which can be used with any WordPress theme), it’s possible to create professional websites without coding.

34. Stock Photography

Have you been thinking of starting your own photography side hustle but haven’t been able to comprehend what it is you’d need to be able to start? You can start your photography business with no prior experience, other than a sheer interest in photography.

If you have an eye for details and find yourself interested in people and the world around you, photography might just be for you. You do not need to be a professional photographer to start making money from a photography side hustle.

Photography is one of the best hobbies for making money. Aside from taking photos for clients, another option is to license your photos through stock photo marketplaces like Shutterstock, Depositphotos, and others. To have success, you’ll need to take photos specifically with stock users in mind rather than just uploading whatever photos you happen to have on your hard drive.

The stock photo marketplaces already have millions of photos, so standing out is difficult. It’s nearly impossible to get started with stock photography today and turn it into a full-time income, but if you’re looking for a way to use your hobby to make a few hundred dollars per month, it could be a good option. It also works well as a supplement to other photography-related income.

The easiest way to find freelance photo editing jobs is by looking at freelance sites like UpWork and Freelancer.com. It can take a while to gain traction on these sites and there is undoubtedly an “art” to it. However, with a little work, you’ll find this to be a powerful and simple way to find paying clients. Even if this side hustle is lucrative, you will need to invest in it before you start. But once you’ve done that, it will pay off quickly.

35. Freelance Photo Editing

Another photography-related side hustle is offering photo editing services. Freelance photo editing is a great way to make a living. This is low-stress, creative work that you can complete while having the TV on in the background. Freelance photo editing also lends itself perfectly to working from home. This is ideal in the current situation we find ourselves in!

Despite all this, freelance photo editing is in high demand and can pay well. In this post, we will look at how to become a freelance photo editor, or simply use this skill to earn a little extra cash on the side.

What does freelance photo editing involve?

As a photo editor, your job will be to beautify photos and images on behalf of companies and other clients. This is achieved via the use of digital tools. Often, this will amount to airbrushing, cropping, color correction, color grading, or enhancing. However, you may also be given more creative tasks depending on the project.

  • Airbrushing – Removing imperfections, often to make subjects’ skin appear smoother.
  • Cropping – Removing objects from a scene, so they can be inserted into other scenes. For example, you might want to remove a person from a photograph against a green screen to place them on the cover of a box.
  • Color correction – This means fixing imperfections as they relate to the colors in an image. For example, if a photo was over-exposed then it might look washed out and require more contrast.
  • Color grading – This means you will be altering the way colors appear in the image, perhaps creating a warmer or cooler tone for example.

That said, some extremely talented photo editors are capable of creating entirely new images using a variety of techniques and effects. In other cases, they might use filters and other strategies to create exciting, dynamic visuals.

Why companies need freelance photo editing

To understand why this is needed, it can be useful to consider the perspective of the client. Companies require high-quality images as a way to market their products, services, and brands. You are far more likely to trust a company website if it uses high-quality images that don’t look like they were taken on a smartphone.

Unfortunately, even with the best cameras in the world, photography alone can only achieve a minimum result. To really reach that professional standard, photo editing is almost always required. Companies also often need to create unique images using photography: whether that’s an album or book cover, packaging for a product, or a piece of advertising.

Photographers take huge volumes of photos, and editing or processing those digital photos can take a lot of time. Some photographers outsource the work to save time and free up more of their time for what they do best, actually taking the photos. And of course, there are scenarios where members of the public need freelance photo editing. This may be to restore old photos, to perfect those wedding snapshots, or just for a bit of fun.

What skills do photo editors need?

So, what skills should you develop for freelance photo editing?

The industry standard when it comes to photo editing is Adobe Photoshop. This is an extremely powerful piece of software, that provides countless tools for all the processes we discussed earlier. Photoshop is so broadly used in fact, that the term “photoshopping” is often used generically to refer to editing!

While Photoshop will provide almost all the features you need for pure photo editing, it can be useful to master additional skills. Specifically, you can benefit from learning design and illustration tools such as Adobe Illustrator or even something like ProCreate. This way, you will be able to combine your photo editing and image-creation skills to create a wider range of different final products.

Similarly, you can combine photo editing with web design, video editing, or even 3D modeling. This lets you offer more features to clients, thereby standing out from the competition. Additionally, it’s useful to sign up for a stock photography website such as Shutterstock or Envato Elements. This will give you access to a range of royalty-free images you can utilize in your edits.

How to find photo editing jobs

Now you have the skills you need, all that is left is to find the work. You can do this in several ways.

Remember: you will often be able to find more work if you can branch out and offer a combination of creative skills.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to work as a “gun for hire” but can “productize” your service. For example, sites like Fiverr will allow you to post services with set specifications and prices. For example:

  • Airbrushing for wedding photography
  • Color grading for holiday photos
  • Cropping one detailed subject
  • [Insert fun effect]ify any photo!

This is a great way to focus on the types of work you enjoy/are good at. At the same time, this lets you more easily predict the amount of time you will spend on a given project.

Photo editors can also find work through a personal website if they can promote themselves through social media or a blog. Or why not contact a company directly with an example of your work and what you can do for them?

Whatever the case, there are a lot of ways to make money from freelance photo editing. If this is something you have a knack for, why not turn that skill into a hustle?

36. Voiceover Artist

Voiceover work can be a great way to earn some extra cash online. The best part about it? You can do it anywhere and anytime, with minimal experience or equipment. Whether you have a voice talent or are just looking into adding another source of income, this side hustle is worth exploring.

There’s a lot of demand for voice artists. You don’t have to sound like the movie preview guy, there are opportunities for people with all different types of voices.

However, it’s never been easier to find a voice-over job. There are a lot of sites out there that you can join for free and get started! All you need is somewhere quiet enough where you can work and a working microphone. Some examples of voiceover work you could be doing are:

  • Corporate videos
  • Video games
  • Advertisements
  • Short films

Fiverr is a good place for side hustling as a voiceover artist, although there’s plenty of competition. You can also use Voices.com to connect you with work.

Tips and tricks to help you when becoming a voiceover actor

  1. Speak as naturally as possible. You might start off nervous and start speaking too fast or too slow, so try to pace yourself.
  2. If you can do accents and sounds well, make sure to include them in your profile and resume. Attach a clip of yourself doing the voiceover.
  3. Set your rates accordingly. If you don’t have good equipment, don’t overprice yourself as it might deter clients from hiring you.
  4. It might be hard to get work at the start if you don’t have much experience, so stay positive and always keep your pitches interesting!

Voiceover actor earning potential

Voiceover for non-broadcast work can bring in anywhere from $200 to $600 for a job, but it all depends on what type of voice artist you are. Short films might be one-off jobs, whereas corporate videos and video game work can be recurring if you do a great job.

As your portfolio grows and people start recognizing talent, you may start to get TV commercial jobs that pay thousands.

Sites to use to become a voiceover actor

Voices is the leading global online platform connecting professional freelance voice talent with buyers of audio and voice-over products. Users leverage the site to find the freelance talent they need to complete animation, documentary, corporate content, film, radio, video games, and other projects. Voices help service clients and voice talent in over 160 countries and have been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, The Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNNMoney, and more.

37. Market Your Musical Talents

There are tons of ways people with musical talent can make money (online) without leaving the house. Building out your online presence is not only a great way to invest in yourself, but it’s also a great way to diversify where your money comes from. Passive income is good income, especially while we’re all waiting for live shows to come back.

I’ve mentioned Fiverr a few times because it’s a great place to market your creative services as a freelancer. Fiverr is an online marketplace that lets producers, singers, mixing engineers, and other music industry folks sell their services online. For example, if you’re a drummer, you could create a gig so people can hire you to record a certain song on the drums. Of course, there are possibilities for other instruments and vocals as well.

Getting a high rating is key. A good way to get started on Fiverr is to charge less for your first few gigs to quickly build your reputation. Once you pass that point, Fiverr will start recommending you to more and more potential customers and you will be able to charge higher fees for your services.

You can also make beats and sell them to people who want to buy online. Selling beats on digital marketplaces is probably the fastest way a musician can make money online. Platforms like BeatStars and Airbit exist to help producers run their beat-selling business by facilitating payments, legal documents, and file delivery. That means there are no upfront costs (like building a website) to start selling beats online. And, it’s a fast-growing business. According to Urban Masterclass, “The beat-selling industry generates at least $30 million a year.

A typical non-exclusive instrumental beat might go for $25-100, while an exclusive beat may go for $300 or more. Now, these are just examples. Your prices will also depend upon your level of experience.

38. Make Money Online With Your Art Talents.

If you’re a creative person, you can turn your talent into a lucrative occupation that brings you both fame and money. We tried highlighting some ways creative people can sell their art. Here we want to make a more robust list of that.

Selling art on Instagram

Instagram has become the No. 1 social media platform for artists and art lovers. That’s great news for beginning creatives because you don’t need to climb the social ladder and wait for big-name critics to call the shots. Instead, you can connect with buyers across the globe willing to pay for your work.

There’s a catch, though.

It all comes down to how many engaged followers you have—the more popular your Instagram account, the higher the demand for your art. So if you feel like you could gather more followers, start there.

There are some technical sides to using Instagram for boosting sales in 9 simple tips. When selling art on Instagram, follow these additional tips:

  • Post high-quality images
  • When photographing your artwork, choose a clean background and natural light
  • Stick to your unified style or brand—find a certain filter, hashtag, language, etc. that represents you and your art
  • Write creative captions that tell a story
  • Use relevant hashtags (that correspond to keywords representing your art)
  • Write an attractive bio (it’s the only place where followers can click on a link)
  • Post regularly (at least twice per week)

Important! Whenever someone sends you a message showing interest in your work, redirect them to your sales page or Sellfy store.

Teaching online

Teaching online courses can be a better option for reaching a wider audience. However, tutoring several people at the same time will be much more difficult online than face-to-face.

Another option is to turn your teaching into a form of passive income. You’ll have to prepare the material once, and it can bring you income even for several months or years.

Some ways how you can become an online art tutor:

  • Sell courses on platforms like Udemy and Skillshare
  • Sell guides and tutorials on your own website or Sellfy page (these can take any form – video tutorials, ebooks, step-by-step guides with images, etc.)
  • Create your own YouTube channel to give weekly lessons on different techniques (we’ve already explained that selling tutorials on YouTube is easy as soon as you learn the basic principles of this process)

Earning passive income by selling wall art

Painters, illustrators, designers, graphic artists, and even sculptors can earn money by selling high-quality prints or copies of their work.

There are two ways how you can turn your art into high-quality posters:

  1. Digitize your artwork with the help of professional photography or scanning
  2. Use Adobe Illustrator or another graphic design program to create posters in a printable format

Some ideas on how to sell wall art:

  • Sell digital copies on Sellfy leaving the printing side to the customer
  • Use one of many print-on-demand websites that will print and ship the posters for you
  • Offer your art to your social media followers or set up an online shop on Facebook
  • Set up a shop on Etsy, one of the biggest international platforms for selling art and handicrafts
  • Sell photos from your portfolio website

Selling other merchandise with your art

The easiest way to get your art printed on tangible products is using a print-on-demand, or drop shipping service. This type of service will take care of printing, packaging, branding, and shipping of your custom products to your customers. Some well-known print-on-demand services are Society6, Zazzle, and Printful.

Some merchandise you can sell with your art on it:

  • Wedding invitations, party decorations, etc.
  • Greeting cards (Christmas, Birthday, Thanksgiving, etc.)
  • Diaries, journals, planners
  • T-shirts, hoodies, kids’ clothes
  • Pillowcases, towels, and other home decor
  • Phone cases, mugs, and other souvenirs or gifts

At the beginning of this list, I listed print-on-demand as one of my favorite side hustles, I was focusing on t-shirts and other apparel designs, but there are other ways to earn extra money from print-on-demand sites.

Print-on-demand marketplaces like Redbubble allow you to sell your artwork as prints or on a wide range of products. If you’re an artist, this could be the ideal opportunity to use your skills.

Writing an art blog

Indeed, artists are usually more into visuals than words. However, thanks to online courses and guides nowadays anyone can become a writer. Besides, your blog can be richer in imagery than words. For example, if you teach your readers a particular painting technique, the texts will only have to support the visuals and explain the actions depicted.

So, if you don’t resent writing altogether, here are some ideas for an art blog:

  • Tips or tutorials on how to achieve the best result in your master technique
  • Reviews of new art supplies
  • Opinion articles about new art trends and movements
  • Interviews with local artists
  • Reports on new exhibitions and galleries
  • Tips about freelancing as an illustrator
  • Create videos showing how you paint, and then share written tips about it

You might be wondering:

This is great, but how do I earn money from it?

There are many ways to earn extra income by blogging. Some of the most popular ones are affiliate marketing, paid ads, creating commissioned reviews, and promoting your other products via your blog. Find out more about how to earn with blogging in this article.

Selling art on Etsy

We wanted to exclude Etsy from the list, but we gave it a second thought. There are many talented artists across Africa who have managed to carve a niche for themselves on the Etsy marketplace and many others who want to start. If you are one of them, Etsy is another option. This marketplace gives you the chance to showcase your art to a wider target audience and take your business to the next level. Hundreds of sellers have been able to make a steady income by selling on Etsy.

What makes this marketplace so popular is that you can sell almost anything creative and artistic:

  • Jewelry and accessories
  • Clothing
  • Wall Decor
  • Visual arts
  • Art & collectibles

Not only is Etsy known as a place for finding unique handmade items, but also for awesome digital art. Etsy’s diversity attracts different types of customers to its marketplace, which can really work in your favor.

40. Publish Your Articles on Vocal

It’s an easy-to-use platform that allows you to share your articles and creatives from all walks of life, from writers to filmmakers, musicians, and artists! • Science and technology

Tips and tricks to help you when publishing on Vocal

  1. Do your research to find the perfect topic to write about (Use apps like Google Trends/Answer The Public/BuzzSumo).
  2. Ensure that your content is engaging and always remember that QUALITY content is king. People don’t want to read boring and repetitive articles that have already been published.
  3. Make sure that your profile is always up to date and post regularly if you can. This will get you a following/fanbase.
  4. Write about things that are relatable/educational. Titles such as “Tips and tricks” and “How to” articles generally attract readers.

Vocal earning potential

First and foremost, the earning potential for Vocal will vary depending on the plan you have. The earnings are passive-you don’t get paid for the initial writing of your article but instead based on how well it performs on Vocal’s site.

The paid version of Vocal costs $9.99/month or $99/year, however, you can cash out at $20 and earn $6 per 1000 views, compared to the free version which only allows cashing out at $35 and gives you $3.80 per 1000 views.

Don’t forget that you can also get tipped if people like your article, so the income potential will vary on how much people love your writing.

There are also competitions on the site that offer prizes up to $1000, so it’s definitely worth checking out if you love writing.

41.  Retail Arbitrage

We’ve written many things about selling stuff online. Indeed there are so many to write about as there are so many side hustles that involve selling something online. Let’s consider this other one more elaborately.

The idea of arbitrage is to buy products or other items at a lower price in one place and then sell them for higher prices somewhere else. All one needs to do is find something being sold at a lower rate in another marketplace and buy them, whether it be in bulk or because you know the price of that item will go up, and flip them at a profit where and when they are most valuable.

Retail arbitrage is a popular option for making money on Amazon and other online com stores. Selling items online on different platforms like eBay and Amazon is a lucrative side hustle for those who enjoy the challenge of finding bargains. It’s not a surprise that many people are turning to arbitrage as an easy way of making money. This is because the process can be done from anywhere, and anything can be sold from books, toys, electronics, and antiques to cars and more!

Unlike private labeling, with retail arbitrage, you’re not creating your own products; you’re selling products from other brands. However, there are pros and cons to each approach. With retail arbitrage, you can get started for much less money. You’ll need to invest to buy a few products, but you won’t need to start with thousands of dollars in inventory.

Tips and tricks to help you to be a successful arbitrageur

  1. Do your research to find which items are most profitable and try to get more of them. This would mean taking note of where/how much you bought them for.
  2. Get as much information as possible for items before making an offer. Get pictures/videos to make sure that the item is sold as advertised.
  3. Niching is a good way to differentiate yourself in the market. You’ll become a “go-to person” for the product you’re selling. Niche into products with high demand if possible so you get more sales.
  4. Make sure you take into account commission and shipping fees before pricing a product!

Retail arbitrage earning potential

The more time and energy you put into this, the faster your earning potential will be. As a beginner spending a few hours per week sourcing products to sell online from home with little or no experience, it’s well within reach for you to get between $500 to $1000 monthly profit after a few months’ worths of work.

There are many people out there doing this and making millions in sales per year! The possibilities of making money through arbitrage are limitless. You can do it on your own or work with someone else in an online business venture to share profits and burdens across the board!

Sites to use to do retail arbitrage online

There are many sites where you can start your retail arbitrage side hustle. You just have to conduct further research and figure out which one works best for you.

42. Flea Market Flipping

Have you heard of a little something called flea market flipping?

If that answer is yes, I bet you didn’t think it was feasible to turn this side hustle into a good business that you can do from any part of the world and make good money.

Flea market flipping is, quite honestly the epitome of that time-old saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

Flea market flipping is the art of finding items that no one else sees value in and selling them for a profit.  Turning someone’s trash into your treasure, if you will. It’s a simple concept, spend as little as possible and sell at the highest price to earn money. It doesn’t sound like a lucrative business at first glance but does not be deceived by that explanation.

You can buy items at yard sales, flea markets, auctions, thrift stores, or online and then re-sell them for a profit. You might sell the products locally in person or you can sell on sites like eBay and Craigslist.

It’s very possible to make a great income with this approach, and you don’t need any specific skills or experience. You have the potential to turn your cheap purchase of $5 into $100 or even $1000 depending on what it is. If you’re just starting out, it’s completely realistic to make an extra $300 to $1,500 a month with flea market flips.  You can earn more money as you learn and grow along the way.

One of the nice things is you can do this at whatever time you have. Do it on a small scale if you only have a few hours, or take it to another level if you have the time. See my list of The Easiest Things to Flip for Profit. Please make sure to do further research before you think of starting this side hustle especially if you plan to run it fully online.

43. Ghostwriting

There are many side hustles linked to writing. But in this part, we want to focus on ghostwriting.

But before you set out on your journey to becoming a ghostwriter, it’s worth considering whether it’s the right path for you to take. Ghostwriting is just one option among many to make a living writing. So let’s stop and consider exactly what it entails and if it’s the right choice for you.

Ghostwriting just means applying your writing skills to help someone else communicate their stories and ideas — under their name. You write as them.

Similar of course to freelance writing – but your name will not be published so this will not affect your exposure. You will be writing under the guise of another website or person – whether it be for content on their website, or even for books.

Many celebrities, politicians, athletes, and business executives rely on ghostwriters to help them publish. All you have to do is get your name in front of them.

How much do ghostwriters make?

Like all forms of ghostwriting, the amount ghostwriters make depends entirely upon their skill set, experience, and ability to find and connect with clients.

On top of that, ghostwriters may choose to charge by the time they spend, the number of words they write, or a flat fee for a given project. As a ghostwriter, you might receive an upfront payment and a payment on completion, or even a percentage of future revenue or profit depending upon the deal you negotiate.

As a ballpark guide, consider the following rough figures for earnings as a ghostwriter:

  • Ghostwriting by the word. Ghostwriters may charge a per-word rate of between $0.10 and $5 depending on their experience, skill, and level of expertise in their subject matter. Usually, clients and ghostwriters will agree on a minimum and maximum word count for project and budget control.
  • Ghostwriting by the hour. Some clients are more comfortable with an hourly rate, with a cap on the number of hours. Ghostwriters tend to charge between $20 and $300 an hour, depending on the scope of the project and the financial status of the client. Ghostwriting an article for a small blog would typically justify the lower side of the hourly scale while writing for a top business executive or celebrity would justify the top end.
  • Ghostwriting by the project. Charging a flat fee for the project is often the simplest way for the ghostwriter and client alike. However, it requires clear expectations on communication, deadlines, and exactly what work is required, including revisions and edits, or one or both sides can be disappointed. Typical flat rates for ghostwriting projects could be $100 to $300 for an article or $5,000 to $100,000+ for an entire book.

There’s no hard and fast rule for what you will make as a ghostwriter. Instead, get a feel for the market rate for your area of writing and level of experience. Then do everything in your power to get a good reputation and testimonials that lead to charging higher prices.

Your success as a ghostwriter is largely dependent on your skills as a writer. Of course, your marketability and ability to connect with clients are also crucial. But without solid writing skills, nothing else matters. If you feel you have what it takes to excel as a ghostwriter, Figure out how you can turn this opportunity into a money-making venture.

44. App Development

App creation and commercialization are the two crazed things in the tech industry. While the credit for app creation goes to smartphones and their ultra-modern operating systems, the credit for app commercialization goes to those super successful apps that started small, developed a cult following (thanks to their wonderful and unique services), and then made it big.

You never know, you could make the next Whatsapp or Instagram! I have heard great things about people who create a successful app and sell it for millions. Have a brainstorming session and see what you could come up with.

There are many articles out there promoting the profit potential of app development. The idea of swimming in riches from coding at home might seem intoxicating, but there needs to be a balance to the discussion because there are also major risks. So let’s bring some focus to this discussion today.

The whole ordeal of app development can be overwhelming but with meticulous planning and strategies, you can have a great app and can turn it into a profitable venture. Finding the right expertise is crucial though as that will assist you in making the right decisions, especially the technological ones. So choose wisely.

45. Offer Tutoring and Consulting Services

The online education industry is valued at $243 billion, according to Statista, a data reporting company. Consulting is traditionally thought of as a more corporate service, but the term applies to anyone whose experience or insight would be valuable to a certain group of people. For example, you could be a college student who tutors other college students, or an online coach offering virtual consulting services.

Today there are many Nigerians who are earning cool money online tutoring people on how to prepare Nigerian jollof rice and other dishes. Some even teach their hobbies to other people willing to learn. There are hobbies and activities you enjoy doing that could make you money on Fiverr. There’s an audience for almost any hobby, and these users want to pay you to learn and grow.  They make use of different platforms to deliver their classes or lessons and get paid afterward.

Fiverr is a great platform to offer to consult and tutoring services that are delivered online through software tools like Zoom, and can include a variety of service types, such as coaching, tutoring, and advising. You can create a platform on Fiverr, let customers know which type of consulting services you offer, and start making money.

46. Translate Languages as a Service

Over recent years, much has been made of the potential for machine translation to revolutionize the way that we tackle language barriers.

For instance, apps like Google Translate can be super helpful when traveling. Using your phone’s camera with character recognition to translate signs and menus is like living in the future.

But machine translation has its limits. While having the advantages of being both free and instant, it can’t yet deliver the same finesse that human translation can. As such, the doom and gloom predictions that human translators would be replaced by machines have failed to pan out.

Instead, demand for freelance translators is booming. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the job outlook for interpreters and translators for 2018-2028 stands at a growth rate of 19% (which is far faster than the average job growth rate for that period).

The study cites increasing globalization and a more diverse population as the primary drivers of that growth.

If you speak another language, there’s an opportunity to offer translation services on Fiverr. People can hire you remotely to translate in real-time, or they can send you documentation that needs translating. You can even provide language lessons virtually through translation services on Fiverr.

Don’t go about asking if you can make money online by offering translation services. In fact, you may begin doing translation as a side hustle, and discover that is so enjoyable and profitable that you want to make it your full-time career.

Some items you can offer to translate include legal documents, articles, social media posts, and language learning lessons. The work can be done online from anywhere in the world.

What other jobs can translators get?

Another reason that translation is such an attractive long-term side hustle is the flexibility that it gives to individual freelance translators to use their transferable skills to pick up additional work.

Translators work with language day in, and day out. That means that they are often well placed to consider alternative jobs, including:

  • multilingual content writing
  • proofreading
  • editing
  • maybe even voice-over work?

Translators have the scope to try their hand at delivering several other language-related services.

Building a portfolio of side hustles in this way means you can create a flexible income stream to better weather external political, economic, or health-related disasters.

47. Sell Various Forms of Internet/Online Marketing

Before we proceed, we would like you to know the difference between internet/online marketing and digital marketing.

Although marketers often use these terms interchangeably, there are subtle differences between internet marketing and digital marketing. Essentially, digital marketing is a broad term for marketing strategies that leverage digital channels to promote products or services, from TV ads and billboards to social media platforms and pay-per-click campaigns. This indicates that digital marketing isn’t limited to the internet.

In contrast, internet marketing refers to a set of marketing strategies that are exclusively carried out via the internet. This makes it a subset of digital marketing, but it’s really a core factor since most digital marketing strategies fall within the boundaries of internet marketing.

Ecommerce sales for 2021 were estimated at $870.8 billion, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau. There is a lot of money to be made online, but for a brand or business to be able to tap into that pool of money, it has to market itself. If you have the bandwidth and the know-how, you can offer online marketing services on Fiverr from the comfort of your own home.

Online marketing services can include influencer marketing, paid advertising, SEO, organic marketing strategy, social media marketing, and/or email newsletter management. Fiverr offers filtering options to help you put your skill set in front of customers who want to hire someone like you.

48. Just Sell Anything You Can Online, Fiverr*

Fiverr is an American website that can be used by people all around the world. Fiverr has evolved dramatically in recent years and has become a global freelancer marketplace that covers all types of services. There is almost nothing that you can’t sell on Fiverr.

Now the question is what can you offer for cash? What services could you provide on Fiverr?

The list is endless, so we’ve decided here to just provide you with general information about getting started with Fiverr so that you can figure out what you can do with it and make some extra dollars.

How does Fiverr work?

Users head to Fiverr to purchase services. Freelancers and service providers offer various services on the platform for users to consider and buy.

Buyers pay Fiverr a service advance, and when a Fiverr order is successfully delivered and completed, the freelancer receives 80% of the total order value. For example, if a service costs $100, the freelancer would receive $80 for a completed order.

If you’d like to make money on Fiverr, you can list your service and know that you’ll receive 80% of the total order value. The advantage is that Fiverr has 4.2 million customers as of 2021, which means an already established potential customer base.

How to get started on Fiverr

Getting started on Fiverr can be easy if you know what you’ll offer. The steps you’ll need to take to get started are:

  • Create a Fiverr account by entering the requested information, such as a name, and email address, and choosing a username.
  • Verify your email to activate the account.
  • Go to the “become a seller” page. You’ll be asked what service you offer, how much it’s priced, and other basic information.
  • Fill out your profile completely to make buyers feel more secure about doing business with you.
  • Connect a payment processor such as Stripe or PayPal to your Fiverr account.
  • Create your first gig.
  • Add photos and describe the gig, and start making money.

Our best advice is just to get started. We all sell different stuff on Fiverr. At some points, we were a little apprehensive at first because each of us had thought Fiverr was another one of these kinds of things that only certain people can make money from. But within a short time, about two months on average, we started to make really good money on the platform.

49. 8 Money-Dropping Side Hustles For Those With Coding Skills

If you’re an aspiring or present IT proficient looking to make part-time earnings, here are 8 lucrative side hustles to follow today and more money online. We probably discussed some of them earlier, but it may not occur to you to relate them to your skills in coding. Let’s ride on:

1 — Tutoring

So the first way that you can make money through coding is by tutoring like one on one tutoring or tutoring certain groups. There are a lot of people out there that want to learn how to code, and being able to teach other people is a really good quality to have. There are a lot of people out there that are looking for tutors and people that want to learn how to code but don’t know where to start and need the assistance of somebody else.

So tutoring, whether that’s one on one or in a group is ideal because not only is it a great way of improving your coding skills but also tutors for coding are paid very highly. Not only that, but coding tutors actually earn a substantial amount of money when compared to others. Tutoring is also great because it means that you only have to spend about an hour a week doing it or more if you are less busy. So if you are a busy person then tutoring is perfect to make money on the side because it means that you only need to spend an hour a week minimum doing it.

2 — Write a blog post

The next way that you can earn money is by writing blog posts. So if you learn how to do web development and create your own website, you can actually make a website, put ads on that website and then upload your own code. A lot of people prefer to learn through YouTube videos or through blog posts, so blog posts are really great because people talk you through the certain code that you do. So you could be one of those, you could make your own project, you could do something similar to what other people have done. So write a blog post about it and people will then visit your website, see the ads on your page, and you’ll make money from those ads.

3 — Freelancing

Number three is being a freelance coder. So a great example of this is if you can build your own websites, there are people out there that will pay a lot of money for you to build them a website or maintain their website. So freelance coding is really good because it means you’re essentially self-employed. You’re going to do work for other people and you can determine how much you get paid because you are the freelance coder, you are not working for anybody else, you are self-employed. So it’s a great way of earning money and it’s a great way of building your CV as well, saying that you’ve worked on certain projects for certain people or companies.

4— Start a business

Number five is to make your own business. So this could be something as simple as making your own coding courses and selling them to people for people to do the coding courses with you. It could be whether you offer to tutor, so back to point one that I said or it could be something as simple as designing a cover or anything like that is a great way of being able to make some extra income by making your own business and again, it’s a great thing to put on your CV.

5 — Write a book

This is probably one that’s often overlooked. If you’re very articulate and you can write and you have a lot that you think you could put in a book, you know, it could be something like “what I’ve learned as a beginner” (a lot of people will probably pick up on that because of a large market for it) or something like “mistakes I made as a beginner” (a lot of people read and a lot of people watch videos when it comes to coding). Those are the two main ways people learn by reading or watching, so if you can write a book and sell it.

So if you have a bit of spare time, you want to write a book over a year and you’ve got a couple of hours spare, you could work really, really hard on writing a book and then releasing it, and you would make some great money from it as well.

6 — Develop an App

This is probably one of the best things that you could do. If you know how to make apps, then make an app, and put it in the app store where you can make some great money from it. Not only that, it could be that you put it on the App Store for free, but then you have advertisers posting in your app itself is a great way of making money.

It also means that you can build up your portfolio and learn from what you’ve done if you are into app development. It’s definitely a great way of being able to earn money because iPhones and phones seem to be the most used thing at the moment. So apps are definitely one of the best places that you can earn some money.

7 — Participate in a coding contest

There are a lot of coding contests out there, which I didn’t actually realize until a couple of years into my kind of coding journey. Just enter them, and there are prizes to be won, whether that’s even technology, it could be that you win a tech, a tech gadget, for example, or you do earn money. It’s a great way of doing what you love, winning a contest, and earning money from it. You know, there are a lot of coding contests that are often overlooked, so fewer people do apply for them. So definitely check out the coding contest.

Not only does it add to your CV and it also helps, you know, your skill set, you could earn some great money from it and also some things with coding contests as well. I know a lot of companies will do contests, you can enter them and then if you win, you don’t only win the money, they will also offer you a job as well because they’ve seen how great you are. Coding contests are often overlooked, so that’s why I recommend checking them out.

8 — Develop an advanced software

Number nine is building software or hardware and then being able to sell it. So I appreciate this probably is not one for beginners. If you are more advanced and you can build your own software, for example, there are a lot of people out there that are looking for specific software. You know, if you can do that and sell it, that is a great way of earning money because you can earn a lot of money from selling software.

50. Enter Competitions With Cash Prizes

In case you’re thinking, ‘what on earth is this one on about, you can’t have to enter competitions as a side hustle’ – you definitely can! Whether you’re a business or an individual, you can enter competitions and win great monetary prizes or rewards.

Some people make thousands of dollars a year from winning prizes and grants with their essays, ideas, and proposals. Many international competition websites list genuine cash and grant competitions so that you can win money! Winning free money would be we welcome treat for most of us.

If you don’t have any luck with money competitions – then take a look at other money-related prizes. You can win vouchers, gift cards, and much more. This can help with your everyday spending or just to treat yourself. You can also find competitions that cover certain bills for you like scholarships or accommodation, or even an all-expense-paid trip, all of which help you to save your hard-earned money!

Try to avoid paying when entering competitions, unless you have the financial means. With so many free-to-enter competitions, you can win cash prizes without spending any.

How to win cash competitions

There are generally fewer cash prize competitions which can mean more entrants and fewer chances of winning. As with all competitions – the fewer people enter, the higher your chances of winning are. So try to find local competitions to win money or competitions which take more effort such as capturing photos or writing a poem or short story, in general, people enter these types of competitions. Don’t forget to always read the terms and conditions, and that you enter before the closing date to be eligible to win!

I recommend checking out websites that regularly update late competitions for businesses and individuals.

51. Trade Cryptocurrency.

As the digital world evolves, so does our currency. What seemed like a novelty yesterday will ultimately become the preferred medium for good money. While cryptocurrency is still relatively new, it will ultimately become the standard.

Even though the crypto market is relatively small at the moment, there is great growth potential. In addition to some of the more well-known cryptos like:

Likewise, there are a host of crypto buying platforms like BinanceCoinbase, and Robinhood — so you have plenty of options when it comes to making money with crypto.

Essentially, there are quite a few methods for you to make legitimate money with cryptocurrencies, other than the obvious way of trading.

Bitcoin and Etherium might be the primary cryptocurrency platforms today, but the US Dollar will eventually become the Digital Dollar by leveraging the blockchain. You can take advantage of the current boom in cryptocurrency by trading it through platforms like eToro and Kraken, amongst many others.

Strategies for making money with crypto

If you are wondering how to earn money with cryptocurrency, look no further!  Strategies for making money with crypto rely on three mechanisms:

  • Firstly, you can invest or trade in the crypto exchange market. You can do this without owning any crypto yourself, like investing in gold on the stock market.
  • Secondly, you can use the coin you already own to stake and lend coins to the system or other users.
  • Thirdly, you can participate in the blockchain system by mining or receiving coin rewards for work done in the system.

Based on these three mechanisms, here are the six strategies for making money with cryptocurrency:

  • Investing
  • Trading
  • Staking and Lending
  • Crypto Social Media
  • Mining
  • Airdrops and Forks

Given the inherent volatility of crypto assets, most involve a high degree of risk while others require domain knowledge or expertise. Therefore, you have to study the market very well before investing.

52. Build Sales Funnels.

Every successful business has an automated sales funnel. Yet, so many businesses are completely unaware of the power of an effective funnel. Sales funnels provide automation in the sales process. They help you build a relationship with your audience and develop a bond with the consumer. There are plenty of tools you can use to build a sales funnel, but the world’s most successful businesses often create custom-coded funnels.

Expert sales funnels often start with a free offer, also called the lead magnet. By delivering value in the lead magnet, you’re creating trust with the consumer. In the next step, you’d usually find what’s called a self-liquidating offer or a tripwire. These are deals that are hard to pass up, often for $7 to $47. The front-end offer is usually found beyond that along with one-time offers to help boost the lifetime value of the customer and the average cart value.

Making sales funnel for clients who need such services is a good way to make a profit. Sales funnels are not cheap. Or, they weren’t once upon a time. You needed a whole team to build them. They were massive projects involving numerous different components and personnel. It was expensive and wartime-consuming. By the time the process was completed, the moment might have passed. It was hard for anyone to make a sales funnel. It was why it took so long for sales funnels to become available. There were only a select few with the patience or money to do what others could not.

But today is a very different day. Today, there is a whole bunch of software out there to help you. I, of course, am partial to the software I use. ClickFunnels is one of many, but notably, the best, when it comes to building sales funnels with simplistic and diverse options for their customers. Whether it is training on how to build out the multiple different kinds of funnels or just access to building one, ClickFunnels has it.

If you’re looking for a guide on how to build out basic sales funnels for different industries, you can find a map here. You can build one out for whatever your business needs. If you need leads, a funnel will do that. If you need a squeeze page for emails, a funnel will do that. Do you need to sell physical products? A funnel will do that for you.

53. Try NFTs

You might have heard or read about how investors and creators have amassed huge sums of money that are life-changing through NFTs. Figuring out how to make money from NFTs can be intimidating, especially with all the huge numbers being thrown around.

The exponential growth in the NFT market over the past 18 months has offered up numerous exciting ways for investors to generate a return. Digital assets have become a compelling way to diversify investment portfolios – with this trend set to become increasingly popular in the years ahead. Try to figure out how you can make money minting and selling NFTs.

Though some are making a big fortune with NFTs, there are still many on the sidelines planning to get the most out of it. If you are among those, here is a list of 7 ways you can make money online from NFTs.

Create and Sell NFTs

The direct and effective method of making money with NFTs is to create and sell them. Yes, you can create and sell anything digital such as art, images, videos, memes, properties, etc., as NFTs. If you have a notch to creativity, you can monetize all your creations by selling them as NFT.

You can create and sell your own NFT collection using platforms like Appy Pie, and make money with your digital assets. You can even list your NFTs on other marketplaces such as OpenSea, Rarible, etc., for a small fee and increase your income.

Trade NFTs

Trading NFTs is a smart and easy way of making money easily and efficiently. You can purchase an NFT collection and make a profit by selling them at higher rates.

However, trading NFTs is not an easy task. The trick lies in selling them at the right time, which directly depends on various factors like what the NFT is, why you bought it, and if there’s any other interest in the item. You can quickly research the internet and different marketplaces to determine these factors.

Rent Out NFTs

One of the best ways to earn money through NFTs is to rent them out. Renting out NFTs can be a good source of passive income for allows NFT creators and collectors. The interesting thing is that you can use the NFTs for the long term, without having to create new ones.

You can rent out your NFTs in games, or any other platform, that allows users to borrow NFT cards. You can even use platforms like reNFT to rent or lend NFTs to others.

No need to worry, all the NFTs that you rent are governed by smart contracts, however, the NFT owner has the privilege to set their preferred duration of the rental agreement and the lease rate for the NFT.

NFT Gaming

NFT-based video games are also one of the known methods of making money through NFTs. Some games allow you to purchase in-game items as NFTs and trade them, helping you earn money from them. Still, their number is limited for now.

With the hype of NFTs, there is certainly no doubt that you will be seeing more and more games in the near future that will be allowing NFT trading.

NFT Royalties

Setting up a royalty on your NFTs is a great way to ensure a consistent flow of income. By NFT royalties, you can earn money whenever your NFT changes hands on the secondary market, meaning you will continuously get income even after selling your creations to collectors.

For an instance, if you set a 10% royalty on your NFTs, you will receive 10% of the total sale price each time your digital asset is resold to a new owner.

Licensed Collectibles

Turn physical collectibles into NFTs, sell them, and start making money in no time. Yes, you can securely store your physical collectibles in the form of digital assets on the blockchain and get the same or higher price for them.

So far, sports cards are the most popular type of licensed NFT collectibles. However, brands are slowly joining the NFT bandwagon with their licensed collectibles to make the most out of it.

Stake NFTs

Staking NFTs is yet another proven way of earning money through NFTs. Staking NFTs means depositing, or “locking away,” digital assets into a De-Fi protocol smart contract to generate a yield.

In simple terms, staking is the process of storing digital works in the form of a “stake”, and assigning them to those willing to maintain their upkeep, while providing you a share of the reward for your NFT.

You can use a variety of platforms like Kira Network, Splinterleads, Only1, and NFTX, to stake your NFTs and make passive income out of them.

54. Sell Custom and On-Demand Stuffs On Your Website

Amazon isn’t your only option if you want to write and sell e-books or print-on-demand books. You can also choose to sell on your own website or blog (or through social media profiles) instead of on Amazon. One of the downsides to selling e-books on Amazon is that the prices tend to be very low. If you have a higher-priced e-book, it may not make many sales. In most cases, you could sell it on your own website for a higher price. Apart from books, there are many things you can sell on your website as long as you can drive traffic to it to connect with your customers.

Setting this up may sound intimidating, but it’s easy. SendOwl is an awesome tool that will handle checkout and order fulfillment. It’s very easy to set up and integrate into your existing website, and it’s also easy for customers to buy and download your e-book. I used SendOwl for several years, and I highly recommend it.

This is a great option if you already have a website or blog with some traffic.

55. Freelance Video Editing

Video editing is a fun, profitable, and popular skill that anyone can learn. This post will show you how to become a video editor, how to find online clients to earn a living, or how to just make some cash on the side!

Video editing is in high demand. The web is an extremely visual platform, and video marketing is one of the most powerful options for brands that want to get their message across. You’ll see a lot of banner adverts as you browse the web, but most of these will make hardly any impact: you probably just dismiss them and move on! A video, on the other hand, is far more engaging.

Businesses use video ads on platforms like YouTube to convey a message and persuade their audiences. Many organizations also now have their own YouTube channels that they use to provide information and entertainment to their customers. This allows them to build trust and authority over time. Videos are also used on company homepages to explain products and services.

Then there are countless other uses for professionally-made video:

  • In-house training videos for staff
  • Promotional videos for investors
  • Video advertisements for traditional media
  • Informational videos for customers
  • Instructions for purchased products

And the list goes on. There is no shortage of work once you know how to become a video editor. As more businesses take their operations online, the market is only likely to grow.

How to become a video editor

Becoming a video editor is as simple as acquiring the right skills, software, and hardware.

Most video editors will use either Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro X for the majority of their work. These are professional, paid software packages. However, you should find that this is an investment that pays for itself in short order.

Those looking to provide more basic services may find that they can make do with more affordable options. Adobe Premiere Elements is a simpler, cheaper alternative to Premiere Pro. Much cheaper options, such as Corel VideoStudio Ultimate do exist, but these are only appropriate for more basic gigs.

How to land jobs

Knowing how to market yourself and knowing where to find work is just as important. Fortunately, several platforms make it relatively easy for editors to post ads and find clients. These are known as “freelancing platforms.” One of the most popular is UpWork. Other options include TopTalFreelancer, and PeoplePerHourLinkedIn is surprisingly useful too.

Surprisingly, Fiverr is actually one of the best online marketplaces for creative professionals. While Fiverr began as something of a novelty, it has grown over the years, and it now offers a serious marketplace for creative professionals through Fiverr Pro.

If you are looking for faster ways to become a video editor, then you can also try reaching out to companies directly to offer your services. You can even create your own online brand and market yourself that way. For example, you could start your own YouTube channel teaching other people how to become a video editor and promote yourself from there! Alternatively, create an Instagram account with short videos and promote yourself in the descriptions/your bio.

Finding a video editing agency is also a great option if you don’t mind surrendering some control over the type of work you do (and a cut of the profit). Just search for video editing agencies and get in touch.

Of course, you don’t have to go freelance! There is nothing wrong with gaining the skills and then simply finding a traditional employer. As well as editing companies, you’ll also find that marketing agencies and even big corporations often have vacancies for video editors.

Standing out from the crowd

Qualifications and certifications can certainly help and provide a boost for your resume, however, they are by no means a requirement. If you do decide to go this route, then a great place to start is with Adobe certification.

Wherever you decide to market yourself, it’s a good idea to have some kind of platform or portal where you can demonstrate your skills. Having a portfolio of your work will speak volumes and ultimately have a bigger impact than any qualifications or experience. Make awesome stuff and, eventually, people will pay you for it. And that is how to become a video editor online!

56. Get Paid Using App

Smartphone use has become so ingrained in our lives that it’s hard to imagine going back. The average person checks their phone over 100 times a day, and we rely on them for everything. But did you know these devices also make great money-makers? You can be earning cash just by having an app installed on your phone!

Many apps are flooding the market, promising you an income. However, it is hard to decide which ones will actually pay off for your time spent downloading them and putting effort into using them to generate income.

You might even encounter some apps that require more work upfront before they produce anything useful.  That’s why this article contains 10 of the best scam-free apps that can help you generate money!

Tips and tricks to help you make your life easier when becoming an app user

  1. Turn your phone to battery-saving mode if you can to get the most out of every charge.
  2. Don’t use your primary email address as you’ll get a lot of junk emails. Create a new one if possible.
  3. To reach your payout threshold, focus on using one app at a time before moving on to another app.
  4. Do your research and make sure the app is not a scam

Get paid using apps earning potential

The potential earnings from mobile apps aren’t the most profitable, working out to around $2-$3 per hour. That being said, it all ends up at the end of the day. If you use it for 8 hours a day for a whole year, you’re looking at $5800 a year.

All you have to do is play a simple game or leave your phone alone while it charges, which makes it a truly passive income stream worth adding to any paycheck!

Sites to use to get paid for using apps

57. Become An SEO Consultant

SEO (search engine optimization) is the art and science of optimizing websites to rank on Google. SEO optimization has become super important but remains relatively easy to master. When you know SEO you have a useful skillset for a full-time or part-time job or a side hustle.

Pay is generally about $30 an hour. If you’re detailed oriented, good with computers, and you like a challenge, then being an SEO specialist might be a great remote job for you.

Some of the best places to learn about SEO are Search Engine LandSEO Roundtable, and Moz (which have excellent free guides). If you want to learn the fundamentals of SEO quickly, I recommend the SEO for Writers course, which is the best foundational SEO specialist course I’ve personally taken.

Some key strategies employed by SEO freelancers include:

  • Keyword research: In its simplest form, keyword research is the process of identifying the queries that will lead searchers back to your site. Once you determine which words or phrases people are using, you can include those specific words and phrases in your content title, headings, and body. The goal is to use these keywords strategically in your content to get it to rank higher in Google.
  • Competitor analysis: Competitor analysis involves comparing your content to content created by competitors who rank highly. Through a technical SEO audit, you can identify what you’re already ranking for and identify any gaps with your competitors’ rankings to help you prioritize specific keywords in your SEO strategy.
  • On-page SEO services: On-page SEO refers to the SEO strategies that can be deployed on the website or webpage where you’re posting content. These page optimization strategies include but are not limited to detailed meta tags, including structured data within your content, adding relevant internal links, etc.
  • Media outreach and link building: Link building is the art of getting other sites to link to your content (these links are often referred to as backlinks). Search engines view links as votes of confidence, and with enough external sources pointing at your site, it will likely rank higher as a result. There are multiple ways to generate backlinks, including promoting your content to publishers in hopes of getting a story that will link to your site or seeking out guest posting opportunities.

The SEO skill set is highly sought after by businesses or individuals who rely on internet traffic. For some businesses, particularly e-commerce, funneling traffic toward their web pages is how they gain customers or make people aware of their products or services.

Obtain the right SEO tools for your toolkit

Many SEO tools on the market can help you improve your SEO strategy. Some are free, while others charge a fee. Some popular choices include the following:

  • Google Search Console. Free to anyone with a website, the Google Search Console makes it easy to monitor and report on different SEO metrics.
  • SEMrush. This company offers a single platform that allows you to do SEO, content marketing, competitor research, pay-per-click (PPC) marketing, and social media marketing all in one place. Price plans range from professional to business level.
  • KWFinder. This SEO keyword tool helps you find long-tail keywords and run analyst reports on backlinks and search engine results pages (SERPs). Pricing plans range from basic to agency level.
  • MOZ Pro. This popular all-in-one SEO toolset includes site auditing capabilities, rank tracking, backlink analysis, keyword research, and more. You can even try it out for free for 30 days first.

58. Become A Lead Generator

If you’re Internet savvy, then working as a lead generator could be a perfect online job. You can contact small local businesses with no online presence and help them establish one.

There is a reason sales is one of the highest-paid professions. Bringing in new and interested clients is a huge value to local businesses that don’t have time to continually find new clientele. Depending on the amount of business you bring in, you can negotiate fees or revenue splits.

Essential skills required for this type of online job are fantastic communication via phone and email, interpersonal skills, friendly customer service, negotiation, and persistence.

Lead Generation Process

Now that we understand how lead generation fits into the inbound marketing methodology, let’s walk through the steps of the lead generation process.

  1. First, a visitor discovers your business through one of your marketing channels, such as your website, blog, or social media page.
  2. That visitor then clicks on your call-to-action (CTA) — an image, button, or message that encourages website visitors to take some sort of action.
  3. That CTA takes your visitor to a landing page, which is a web page that is designed to capture lead information in exchange for an offer.Note: An offer is content or something of value that’s being “offered” on the landing page, like an ebook, a course, or a template. The offer must have enough perceived value to a visitor for them to provide their personal information in exchange for access to it.)
  4. Once on the landing page, your visitor fills out a form in exchange for the offer. (Forms are typically hosted on landing pages, although they can technically be embedded anywhere on your site.)

To sum it up, a visitor clicks a CTA that takes them to a landing page where they fill out a form to get an offer, at which point they become a lead.

Once you put all of these elements together, you can use your various promotional channels to drive traffic to your landing page to start generating leads.

59. Marketing Automation Consultant

Email marketing has become essential for many companies, but it can seem daunting and complicated. Many local businesses or independent professionals also don’t have the time to keep up with consistent email marketing for existing clients and new prospects. This is why online marketing automation platforms like Ontraport and HubSpot are seeing incredible growth right now, and more platforms are emerging all the time. Some other examples are Aweber, Convert Kit, and Mailchimp.

With a little bit of practice, marketing automation will soon become second nature to you, and you can offer valuable services to companies. For example, I have a friend that specializes in monthly email newsletters within the financial sector. He has a handful of financial advisors and retirement specialists as clients and manages their email lists for them. He sends monthly news updates, relevant financial articles, as well as custom marketing campaigns to all of the clients and prospects on behalf of the advisors.

Marketing Automation Consultants furnish marketing teams with an analytical, as well as artistic touch. They help by organizing marketing efforts, ensuring efficacy in marketing multiple channels online, and productively automating repetitive tasks towards increased sales through lead conversions. Depending on the marketing automation software, the marketing automation personnel looks after the ideation, execution, and measurement of different aspects of marketing. An essential part of the responsibilities includes email marketing, lead generation and nurturing, lead scoring, and analytics.

Learning the fundamentals of marketing software such as Constant ContactConvertkit or Mailchimp will take you a long way. Many of these software also offers a free version of their platform, so it won’t cost you anything to sign up and get started sending automated emails.

This is more than a side hustle as you can make a significant amount of money rendering services to clients online via Freelancer, Upwork, and Flexjobs, Taking a certification course to become a specialist can often land you in the $60 to $100 per hour range fast.

60. Game on Twitch

If you consider yourself a pro gamer, chances are you’ve already heard of Twitch. If you haven’t, we’ll fill you in briefly. Twitch, acquired by Amazon in 2014, is one of the world’s leading live-streaming platforms. It’s also an excellent way to earn an income from streaming content. Like on YouTube, you’ll find creators steaming various types of content on Twitch, including gaming, music, art, sports, and food.

Twitch is a site where you can stream yourself playing video games, as well as watch other people play video games. Twitch has more than 15 million daily active users.

Like YouTube, you can make money off displaying adverts at the start of your Twitch videos. Because it’s an Amazon-owned platform, it’s also really easy to create affiliate Amazon links to games or other products. You might even be able to pick up sponsorship deals if you can rack up enough views.

How to make money from Twitch

Everyone who joins Twitch is considered a Creator. As you build an audience and reach specific achievements, you can achieve additional Twitch levels that can increase your income potential.

While you might not become a millionaire on Twitch, you can make decent money, and you don’t need to build a large audience to start earning. Here is how to make money on Twitch, whether you’re an avid gamer, guitarist, food critic, or another type of creator.

You can begin streaming and earning as soon as you join Twitch, although you probably won’t make much as a Streamer. Fortunately, it doesn’t take much work to meet the requirements to advance to becoming a Twitch Affiliate. The Affiliate level is where you can really increase your earning potential.

Everyone starts with little to no audience. Don’t let that discourage you from considering streaming as a side hustle and possibly streaming your way to a full-time income. As your audience grows, your earnings will increase. Here are some ways you can make money on Twitch as a Streamer.

Donations: If you have a PayPal or PeachPay account, you can create a Donate button and add it to your channel. Anyone who likes your content can easily click over to your PayPal or PeachPay account and donate to you.

Amazon Associates: Sign up with Amazon Associates, and you can earn by linking to specific Amazon products from your channel. If someone goes through one of your links to make a qualifying purchase, you receive a commission.

Selling Your Own Products: You can add links to your own products from your Twitch channel if you have an online store. You can get new viewers on both sites if you also promote your Twitch channel on your online store.

At the Affiliate level, you can begin making money with three Twitch Affiliate features subscriptions, Twitch bits, and ad revenue. To earn Affiliate status, you have to achieve the following:

  • Have 50+ followers
  • Broadcast a total of eight hours over 30 days across seven unique days
  • Have an average of three or more viewers per stream

When you gain Twitch Affiliate status, you can begin earning with subscriptions, ad revenue, and Twitch bits. Here is an overview of how you can make money using these features.

Subscriptions: You can earn 50% of every subscription someone buys to your channel. Subscription options range from $4.99 to $24.99. You can incentivize your subscribers to pick more expensive tiers by offering subscriber-only perks.

Ad Revenue: As an Affiliate, you get a share of the revenue generated from any ads running on your channel. Twitch is currently updating the terms of the revenue share with Affiliates. Previously, Creators earned a fixed payout for every 1,000 ad views. The platform is moving to a percentage-based model that pays Affiliates and Partners 55% of the net ad revenue from their channel.

Twitch Bits: Bits are a form of virtual currency that viewers can buy to cheer on their favorite streamers. It is the same as donating but uses virtual currency rather than actual money. As an Affiliate, you only earn a maximum of one cent per bit you receive, but it can add up.

To become eligible to apply for the Partner Program, you don’t need more followers than the 50+ that helped you become an Affiliate. Still, you do need to meet the following other requirements:

  • Broadcast a total of 25 hours over 30 days across 12 unique days
  • Have an average of 75 or more viewers per stream

A Twitch Affiliate who meets all requirements to become a Partner must apply to join the Partner Program. Not everyone is accepted. Twitch Partners do not get any additional earning features, but they can get more exposure, which means more revenue.

As a Twitch Partner, you don’t get access to any additional ways to earn on the platform, but you likely will get more exposure, enabling you to make more than at the Affiliate level. Twitch Partners also have a better chance of getting brand sponsorships and endorsement deals since they can get more exposure on the platform than other Creators.

Partners also receive other perks, such as video-on-demand features, access to Partner-only opportunities, and priority tech support.
